WEIRD SPACE challenges the traditional experience of a gallery by literally changing its structure. The container walls are obscured by undulating corrugated plastic sheets commonly used in graphic printing, advertising, and packaging. Backlit by perpetually-changing RGB LEDs, the commercial material takes on surprisingly organic forms, immersing us in a newly realized, futuristic space. In this synthetic superstructure, layers of density and light invite us to move and experience a new architecture, one contained within container. This dynamism plays with the precious nature of the static white cube so prevalent in contemporary art spaces. Instead, WEIRD SPACE asks us to inhabit, to wonder, and to wander.
